The Sphynx is the world's most famous hairless cat breed, developed in Canada in the 1960s from a natural genetic mutation. Despite the alien appearance, Sphynx cats are among the warmest and most affectionate breeds on earth — literally and figuratively. Their wrinkled, hairless skin radiates heat, and their personality is expansive: extroverted, playful, and genuinely devoted to human contact.

Pros

  • Extremely affectionate — true velcro cat that loves constant contact
  • Hypoallergenic-friendly — no coat to shed (though not truly allergen-free)
  • Social with strangers, other cats, and dogs
  • Entertaining and extroverted personality
  • Dog-like in their loyalty and people-orientation

Cons

  • Requires weekly full-body wiping down to remove oil build-up on skin
  • Cold-sensitive — needs warm environments and sometimes clothing in winter
  • Ears accumulate wax quickly and need regular cleaning
  • Can be prone to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy — cardiac monitoring recommended

I don’t recommend it to anyone!

I don’t recommend it to anyone! Our children have grown up. We decided to buy livestock. The choice fell on the Canadian Sphynx. Judging by the reviews, they are: 1. Affectionate and attached to their owner 2. No fur 3.
