Intelligent and responsive

My Weimaraner picks up training commands faster than any dog I have worked with. She learned a complex tracking sequence in two sessions that took my previous dog two months. She is motivated, responsive, and genuinely engaged in working with me. The challenge is directing all that intelligence prod…

The grey ghost of the dog world

My Weimaraner is the most strikingly beautiful dog I have ever owned. His silver coat and pale amber eyes turn heads everywhere we go. He is also the most devoted dog I have had, following me everywhere with quiet intensity. He needs a huge amount of exercise but when that need is met he is calm, ob…

Beautiful and manageable with commitment

My Weimaraner requires significant daily commitment in terms of exercise and engagement. With that commitment she is calm, affectionate, and easy to live with. She is obedient, well-mannered, and a wonderful companion. The grey coat is beautiful and requires minimal grooming. She has been the most r…

Great second dog for experienced owners

I got my Weimaraner as my second dog after a decade with Labradors. I thought my experience would prepare me. I was mostly right but the energy level is genuinely different. She is manageable but requires more daily investment than my Labs. She is more sensitive, more athletic, and more attached. Wi…

Powerful and devoted

My Weimaraner is an athlete. She runs for two hours and barely stops. She is sleek, powerful, and fast. She is also deeply attached to me and struggles when I am away. We have a dog walker on work days and she copes, but the attachment is real. With adequate exercise and company she is wonderful. Sh…

Best hunting dog I have used

I hunt pheasant and my Weimaraner has been my most effective hunting companion by a significant margin. Her nose, her range, and her retrieve are outstanding. She works a field with confidence and style. Off season she is my devoted family companion who shares the sofa and follows my children around…

Devoted to my family

My Weimaraner considers all four members of my family to be her people and distributes her devotion equally and generously. She greets each of us with the same whole-body joy every time we enter. She sleeps nearest whoever came home last. She is completely integrated into our family life and I canno…

Too much dog for my lifestyle

I thought I was active enough for a Weimaraner. I was not. He needs more than two hours of vigorous exercise daily. On the days I provide it he is manageable. On the days I cannot he becomes a grey ghost of destruction, methodically dismantling everything he can reach. He is a brilliant dog but the …
