Backpacking through Brazil on a tight budget — totally doable
Did Brazil on a shoestring for 8 days and it was absolutely manageable. Based in cheap guesthouses near Florianópolis centre and ate mostly at local spots — churrasco from street stalls cost almost nothing and was better than anything in a tourist restaurant.

Disappointed by the tourist experience around Iguazú Falls
Iguazú Falls in Brazil is extraordinary — the scale and history hit you immediately. But the experience around it has been thoroughly commercialised. Getting there, navigating the crowds, and dealing with persistent sellers around Florianópolis centre made it more stressful than it should be.
