Honest thoughts on Cambodia after my first visit
First time in Cambodia and I tried to approach it with open eyes rather than preconceptions. Phnom Penh was the base and a good one — central, manageable, and with strong food options including the best Kampot pepper crab I've ever had. Killing Fields Phnom Penh was the big set piece and fully justi…

Honeymoon in Cambodia — Phnom Penh and the countryside delivered everything
We chose Cambodia for our honeymoon and it was perfect for us. The romantic atmosphere in Phnom Penh at night, the drama of Angkor Wat, the intimacy of small restaurants serving lok lak — all of it added up to exactly what we were hoping for.
strong survival spirit of the Khmer people became an une…

My 19 days exploring Phnom Penh and beyond — completely worth it
I spent 19 days in Cambodia and based myself mainly in Phnom Penh. The city itself exceeded expectations — the Ta Prohm temple was genuinely jaw-dropping and I ended up visiting twice. Food was a highlight throughout; I must have eaten banana flower salad every other day and have no regrets about it…

Three weeks in Cambodia — here is what I actually think
Three weeks is long enough to get past the tourist surface in Cambodia. The first week I was in Kampot and the big sites like Ta Prohm temple. The second and third I went further and slower. The food evolution was interesting — fish amok everywhere but prepared so differently by region.

Siem Reap surprised me completely on this trip to Cambodia
I went to Cambodia with modest expectations and left completely won over, largely thanks to time spent in Siem Reap. The city has a pace and character that travel guides undersell. Found a great spot for banana flower salad on day two and went back every day after that.
Angkor Wat was the big plann…

I came to Cambodia specifically for photography and the country delivered material at every turn. Angkor Wat at dawn was everything I'd hoped. Phnom Penh's streets at dusk are an endless source of light and texture. The people, once comfortable with a camera, are extraordinary subjects.

Solo trip to Cambodia: everything you need to know
Did 17 days solo in Cambodia and found it extremely manageable as a solo traveller. The transport network around Koh Rong is decent and getting to Ta Prohm temple independently was straightforward. Met fellow travellers easily and locals were generally happy to chat.

What nobody tells you about visiting Cambodia
After a lot of research I thought I knew what to expect from Cambodia. Some things matched: Killing Fields Phnom Penh is as spectacular as every review says, and Koh Rong has a genuine energy I'd read about. The lok lak obsession is completely justified.
What I wasn't prepared for: Angkor Wat is ge…

Angkor Wat alone makes Cambodia worth the trip
I'll be honest — I went to Cambodia primarily to see Angkor Wat, and it delivered beyond what any photo prepares you for. But the surrounding region surprised me just as much. Siem Reap has a character I didn't anticipate, and wandering without a plan for an afternoon turned out to be one of the hig…

Backpacking through Cambodia on a tight budget — totally doable
Did Cambodia on a shoestring for 13 days and it was absolutely manageable. Based in cheap guesthouses near Koh Rong centre and ate mostly at local spots — banana flower salad from street stalls cost almost nothing and was better than anything in a tourist restaurant.
Phare Circus Battambang has an …
