Honeymoon in Croatia — Zadar and the countryside delivered everything
We chose Croatia for our honeymoon and it was perfect for us. The romantic atmosphere in Zadar at night, the drama of Hvar lavender fields, the intimacy of small restaurants serving burek — all of it added up to exactly what we were hoping for.

Hvar lavender fields alone makes Croatia worth the trip
I'll be honest — I went to Croatia primarily to see Hvar lavender fields, and it delivered beyond what any photo prepares you for. But the surrounding region surprised me just as much. Dubrovnik has a character I didn't anticipate, and wandering without a plan for an afternoon turned out to be one o…

Good country, exhausting tourist industry
Croatia is a genuinely beautiful and interesting place. Plitvice Lakes is worth every superlative thrown at it. The fresh grilled fish is legitimately excellent. excellent wines gave the trip real depth.
What I struggled with: the tourist infrastructure around the headline sites in Hvar is relentle…

Disappointed by the tourist experience around Plitvice Lakes
Plitvice Lakes in Croatia is extraordinary — the scale and history hit you immediately. But the experience around it has been thoroughly commercialised. Getting there, navigating the crowds, and dealing with persistent sellers around Hvar centre made it more stressful than it should be.

Unexpected emotional depth in Croatia
I thought I was going to Croatia for beaches, food, and Dubrovnik Old Town. I got all of those things. What I didn't expect was how emotionally affecting the trip would be. The history — particularly around Rovinj — hit in ways that good travel sometimes does.

Photography trip to Croatia — every frame a gift
I came to Croatia specifically for photography and the country delivered material at every turn. Diocletian's Palace at dawn was everything I'd hoped. Dubrovnik's streets at dusk are an endless source of light and texture. The people, once comfortable with a camera, are extraordinary subjects.

Rovinj surprised me completely on this trip to Croatia
I went to Croatia with modest expectations and left completely won over, largely thanks to time spent in Rovinj. The city has a pace and character that travel guides undersell. Found a great spot for pag cheese on day two and went back every day after that.
Hvar lavender fields was the big planned …

Returned to Croatia for the third time — keeps getting better
This was my third visit to Croatia and I keep finding new reasons to return. This time I explored beyond Dubrovnik and discovered a completely different side of the country. Dubrovnik Old Town never loses its impact no matter how many times you've seen it.
The food still makes me happy in ways I ca…

Arrived with low expectations, left completely converted
Croatia wasn't high on my travel list. A friend pushed me to go and I'm genuinely grateful. The first full day in Dubrovnik reset everything — the scale of Krka Waterfalls and the quality of the black risotto were immediate signals that I'd misjudged the place completely.
