First time trying Dobos Torte — completely converted
I had never tried Dobos Torte before this visit and I wasn't sure what to expect. The creamy and savoury taste hit immediately and made sense of the dish in a way descriptions never quite do. lard is an ingredient I'd not encountered used quite like this before.

Dobos Torte at this place was fine. The creamy and savoury flavour was there but not distinguished. sweet paprika was present in the right quantities but without the care that makes the difference. You can taste when something is being made to a formula.

I underestimated Dobos Torte. The richly paprika-spiced description didn't prepare me for the reality. sour cream brings a heat or pungency that builds steadily rather than hitting upfront. By halfway through I was sweating but couldn't stop eating.
