One of the greatest films ever made
I've seen American Beauty multiple times now and it just keeps getting better. Conrad Hall's saturated cinematography is something rarely matched in cinema. If you haven't watched it yet, clear your evening.

The ending absolutely floored me
American Beauty builds so carefully to its conclusion that when it arrives you feel genuinely moved. The beauty in the mundane thread pays off in a way that's earned rather than manipulative. Couldn't sleep afterward.

Stayed with me for weeks
American Beauty ended and I sat with it for weeks. The beauty in the mundane theme kept circling back. I'd be doing something mundane and the final monologue would pop into my head. That kind of resonance is rare.
