The ending is divisive for a reason

Psycho commits to a conclusion that not everyone will appreciate. I found it perfectly right — it refuses easy comfort. If you want tidy resolution you may be frustrated. If you want truth, it delivers.

Disappointed given the reputation

Psycho is technically accomplished and I understand its place in film history. But it left me cold. The the nature of evil element felt mechanical and I never connected emotionally. Maybe I'll try again someday.

One of the greatest films ever made

I've seen Psycho multiple times now and it just keeps getting better. Bernard Herrmann's strings is something rarely matched in cinema. If you haven't watched it yet, clear your evening.

The ending absolutely floored me

Psycho builds so carefully to its conclusion that when it arrives you feel genuinely moved. The duality and repression thread pays off in a way that's earned rather than manipulative. Couldn't sleep afterward.

Not my genre but it completely won me over

I usually avoid this kind of film but gave Psycho a chance after constant recommendations. Completely converted. Alfred Hitchcock transcends genre entirely. It works as pure human drama first and everything else second.

The cinematography alone is worth it

Whatever you think of the story, Psycho is one of the most visually extraordinary films ever shot. There are frames here that belong in a gallery. Worth seeing on the biggest screen possible.
