A little dated but still charming
Adventure Time shows its age in places but the core of what made it special remains. the surreal world-building is still funny and Jake the Dog is still endearing. Some references land flat now but the heart is intact.

Far more than just a cartoon
Adventure Time is one of those shows you can't believe was made for children. The themes of love and friendship are handled with more depth than most adult dramas. Pendleton Ward's vision is unmistakable.

Changed what animation could be
Adventure Time pushed the boundaries of what animated storytelling could do. The exploration of growing up and identity was groundbreaking for its medium. I still think about Princess Bubblegum's arc regularly.

Adventure Time started strong and only improved. By season two, Pendleton Ward had found a confidence that made the show feel inevitable. I Remember You is one of the finest episodes in animated television history.

Underrated gem
More people should watch Adventure Time. It never got the cultural attention it deserved while it was airing. the surreal world-building is genuinely brilliant and the growing up and identity exploration is more sophisticated than most prestige live-action drama.
