Eternals (2021)

I didn't expect Eternals to affect me so deeply. The way Chloé Zhao handles the ethics of intervention is unlike anything I'd seen before. I came out of it looking at the world differently.

Eternals ended and I sat with it for weeks. The creation vs destruction on a cosmic scale theme kept circling back. I'd be doing something mundane and the Deviant attack in Babylon would pop into my head. That kind of resonance is rare.

Every actor brings something to Eternals, but the lead performance is genuinely extraordinary. The subtlety involved, the way the character changes without announcing it — it's a masterclass.

There are scenes in cinema you never forget. For me, Ikaris vs the Eternals in Eternals is one of them. Chloé Zhao constructs it with total precision and it lands exactly as intended. Pure craft.

Eternals is technically accomplished and I understand its place in film history. But it left me cold. The the ethics of intervention element felt mechanical and I never connected emotionally. Maybe I'll try again.

Everyone told me to watch Eternals for years. Finally did and instantly understood why. the cosmic MCU ambition is immediately apparent. Now I'm recommending it just as loudly to everyone else.

Eternals commits to a conclusion that not everyone will appreciate. I found it perfectly right — it refuses easy comfort. If you want tidy resolution you may be frustrated. If you want truth, it delivers.

Eternals deals with the ethics of intervention in a way that's genuinely uncomfortable at times. But that discomfort is the point. Chloé Zhao never lets you look away, and the film is better for it.

I've seen Eternals multiple times now and it just keeps getting better. the cosmic MCU ambition is something rarely matched in cinema. If you haven't watched it yet, clear your evening.
